High speed - installation (MAC address registration)

What is a MAC address?

A MAC address, or Media Access Control address (not to be confused with Apple's Macintosh computers), is a unique code assigned to your computer or other networking device. In order for your device to be able to access the Internet using TELUS High Speed, you must register its MAC address with our Online Customer Access (OCA) system.

How do I find a MAC address?

Using routers

If you are using a router with your high speed connection, you will need to register its MAC address instead of the MAC address of your computers. To the find the MAC address on a router, look for a number on the bottom or back of the router.

Note: There may be two MAC addresses on your router. If you are using your router wirelessly, enter the "WLAN" MAC address. If you are not using your router wirelessly, enter the "LAN" MAC address.

If you are having trouble finding the MAC address, refer to the documentation for your router.

Step 1: Log in to OCA

  1. Open a Web browser.
  2. Go to the OCA Web page by entering http://oca.telus.net in your Address bar.

NOTE: If you're unable to access the OCA site using this address, you can try http://oca.ab.hsia.telus.net in Alberta or http://oca.bc.hsia.telus.net in B.C.
