- TELUS PureFibre uses fiber optic technology and light to transmit data from TELUS to the customer premises, which is more energy-efficient than legacy data transmission methods. Energy savings are not experienced at the customer level because of enhanced household equipment and Wi-Fi.
- TELUS offers the fastest combined download and upload speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps and 940 Mbps respectively. In comparison, Shaw's fastest upload speed is 100 Mbps and download speed is 1.5 Gbps. TELUS is the only major provider in Western Canada with a 100% fibre optic connection to the home. Fibre optic technology is based on light signals which is not impacted by the capacity constraints and environmental stresses that affect traditional copper wire or copper wire hybrid networks. That means a fast, consistent connection to your home. With Shaw's hybrid network, connections switch to copper cables at a hub and split into multiple homes, creating a shared, less reliable network that can slow down speeds. Not available in all areas. Individual results may vary depending on location, usage within the home network, number of connected devices on the speed profile, applicable network management or server configurations.
