How to use a TTY payphone

To call the TELUS Relay Service Operator:

1. Remove the handset from the holder.
2. Dial 711 for the TRS Operator. TTY keyboard will open when 711 is dialed.
3. Watch the signal light on the TTY drawer to see ringing.
4. After your conversation, hang up the handset. The TTY keyboard will close automatically.

To call directly to another TTY phone

1. Remove the handset from the holder.
2. For a local call, deposit payment.
3. Dial the number. Watch the signal light on the TTY drawer to see ringing or busy.
4. When the other TTY answers, your TTY keyboard will open.
5. When you hang up the handset, the TTY keyboard will close.

Helpful hints

• To use the TTY Voice Announcer, press "*" three times. Announcer will say, "TTY call, please use text telephone".
• If the display says 'drawer closing' before you are done, press any key to keep it open.
• For 911 calls, dial 911 then press "*" three times.
• To place a long distance call charged collect, third number or to a calling card, dial the TELUS Relay Service Operator at 711.
