TELUS Firewall Booster

Firewall booster monitors both incoming and outgoing Internet traffic from your computer, protecting you from malicious viruses, spyware and other security threats, while constantly helping to block intrusions and hostile hacker attacks. It also blocks unauthorized access to the Internet from your computer.

The Firewall Booster service enhances the protection given by your Firewall software. The Firewall Booster service supplements the Windows Firewall using two technologies: Network Virus Scan and Intrusion Detection System (IDS).

Network Virus Scan

"Network viruses" can directly spread from one computer to another without user intervention. The Network Virus Scan (NVS) allows the Firewall Booster service to perform both inbound and outbound network packet scans to protect the computer.

Intrusion Detection System (IDS)

The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) provides strong detection capability for a variety of network intrusions, including such things as the "Ping of Death", "Trace Route", and "SYN Flood" - typical indicators that an intrusion may be taking place.
