Getting started checklist
To get started, here’s what you’ll need to complete your transfer:
Your TELUS Mobility account must be active.
You will need a new TELUS SIM card (or eSIM) with an active phone number.
You will need the device you’ll use with TELUS.
Make sure your phone number and old SIM card (or eSIM) remain active.
The account number or device IMEI number you use with your old service provider.
Important
: Please keep your old SIM card (or eSIM) in your device. A text message will be sent to the number you want to transfer. You must reply to the text message to complete your transfer.
Once the transfer is complete, your mobile phone number will be cancelled with your old service provider. Please note that you’ll also remain responsible for any outstanding device balance or service agreement from your old service provider.
Submit all required details. When prompted, select the
Get a number
option.
Complete your prepaid activation and insert your SIM card (or activate your eSIM).
If you’ve completed these steps or already have a TELUS Prepaid account:
Call *611 from your TELUS Prepaid device to speak with an agent, who will set up your phone number transfer.
After submitting your transfer request, a text message will be sent to your old SIM card (or eSIM). You must reply
YES
to the text message within 90 minutes to confirm your transfer.
Important information for eSIM users and eSIM guide
Follow the steps below to make sure your eSIM is still active with your old service provider. Your old eSIM must remain active to complete your transfer.
Important
: If the eSIM is erased, you will not be able to receive the verification text to approve your transfer, and your phone number will not be transferred to TELUS.
Check or update your transfer status
It may take up to two and a half hours to transfer your mobile phone number to TELUS. You can track your transfer status at any time by following these steps below:
