Canada Direct® How It Works
- Use your TELUS Calling Card Pocket Guide or this Web site to find the Canada Direct®* Access Number for the country you are in. Listed countries identified with an asterisk * allow you to place calls within country or to most other countries in the world using Canada Direct® Service.
- If you're in a hotel, follow the hotel instructions to get an outside line. (Canada Direct® Service is provided to hotels toll-free, although some hotels may apply a connection charge.) Ask the front desk if any additional surcharges will be applied. Once you have an outside line, dial the Canada Direct® access number.
- Follow the voice prompts to select your language choice and method of payment. When asked to select carrier say "TELUS" or press 2. You can place a call using your TELUS Business Calling Card or TELUS Call-Me Service or you can place a collect call. If ever asked for your credit card number, do not provide it. You may be experiencing telephone fraud. Follow this link to find out how to protect yourself.
- If you are using your TELUS Business Calling Card, you can place up to ten calls in a row without hanging up - just press # after each call and then follow the voice prompts.
- For fax calls, pick up the handset and follow steps 2-6. Follow this link for details on making modem calls.
- If you're calling from a rotary phone, you will be able to use voice responses to complete your call(s). Say "TELUS" to connect to our network. Say "operator" if you require assistance and want to connect to a TELUS Operator.
