    TELUS Navigator allows you to get audible turn-by-turn driving directions to any destination, maps of any location and search points of interest right from your TELUS phone.

  3. Where can I use TELUS Navigator?

    TELUS Navigator will work within the TELUS' AGPS coverage area, currently limited to AB, BC and Southern Ontario. See coverage map  for details. We are actively working on expanding our coverage, so please check back for updates.

  4. Is TELUS Navigator available on both PCS and Mike networks?

    Currently, Navigator is only available for users PCS handsets. Mike users have access to a different set of GPS tracking and dispatch services.

  5. Can I use TELUS Navigator indoors?

    TELUS Navigator requires line of sight to GPS satellites in the sky, so you will need to be outdoors or in a vehicle to use Navigator.

  6. How can I tell if my phone is enabled to get my location?

    If the there is a GPS icon on your phone’s home screen, your phone is GPS enabled and Navigator can get your location.

  7. How do I enable my phone to get my location?

    You can typically manage your GPS settings through the phone’s settings menu. For the Samsung A950, go to “Settings” from your phone’s main menu, go to “GPS”, then “Status” and select “Emergency Only”. For other phones, please refer to your phone’s user guide.

  8. If I turn GPS Status On, can anyone find my location?

    No. Turning GPS Status On will not allow anyone to determine your location.

    TELUS Navigator is designed with your privacy and security in mind and is subject to our privacy policy. Navigator uses a comprehensive suite of security arrangements to ensure the safeguarding of your information and that only authorized users can access your location information:

    1. Your location information is communicated and stored within TELUS’ secure infrastructure
    2. Location information is normally retained for a maximum of seven days, after which it will be deleted
    3. Location information is only collected by TELUS with your consent. Consent is either provided by downloading an application onto your mobile phone and running the application, or log into mytelusmobility.com to initiate and access the service.

  9. Am I using data when I use the navigation service?

    No. All of the data required for Navigator is included the monthly subscription.

  10. What happens if I miss a turn, or if I know a better way?

    If you miss a turn, or if you go off route, TELUS Navigator will automatically provide you with new directions to get you to your destination.

  11. Can I place a call while navigating?

    No. At any time you can press the Send key and place a call. You can call your destination, someone in your phone book, or dial any number.

    However Navigator will be suspended during the call. At the end of the call, TELUS Navigator will determine your location and will continue navigating to your destination. Note that it may take a short time to update the directions.

  12. What happens if I receive a call while navigating?

    Navigation will be suspended during the call. At the end of the call, TELUS Navigator will determine your location and will continue navigating to your destination. Note that it may be necessary for TELUS Navigator to contact the server to update the directions.

  13. The directions TELUS Navigator gave me took me a way that the road wouldn’t allow. Why?

    Roads are constantly being added and changed. While we are constantly updating and improving our database of information, there may be some occasions where we do not have the latest information.

  14. Do I need to select a category?

    No. If you leave the category as All Categories, TELUS Navigator will search for everything near your current location. If you enter a name in the What field, your search results will reflect any point of interest with that name.

  15. Can I do a Local Search of somewhere other than my current location?

    Yes, simply change the starting location by modifying the Where field in the search. Scroll down to the Where field and then scroll right. Select the appropriate starting point.

  16. The place I’m looking for doesn’t appear in the results of the Local Search. Why?

    While we are constantly updating and improving our local search database, but there may be some occasions where we do not have the latest information.

  17. Can I save favourite places?

    Yes, TELUS Navigator allows you to store your Home address and Work address within My Places. In addition, you can save any search result, or any address you enter, into your favorites by selecting Options (right soft key) and then selecting Save to Favorites.

  18. I looked for something a few days ago and want to find it again. How do I do this?

    All of your recent activities are saved in Recent Searches.

  19. Can I get a map of any address?

    Yes, you can display a map of any address within Canada.

  20. Can I pan and zoom the map?

    Yes, you can pan the map by pressing your navigation keys - up, down, left or right. You can zoom the map by pressing the OK button, then scrolling left or right to the appropriate zoom level and pressing OK again.

  21. Every time I try to use TELUS Navigator, it tells me that it can’t get my location. Why?

    It is possible that your phone is set to get your location only when you make an emergency call. Look on the status bar at the top of your phone. If you do not see this icon, your phone is not GPS enabled. You can typically manage your GPS settings through the phone’s settings menu.

  22. I keep getting message saying GPS Fix error – why?

    It is possible that you are not within our GPS coverage or that you do not have clear view of GPS satellites in the sky.

    Ensure that you are within our coverage area, move your phone closer to a window and try again.

  23. I can’t hear anything

    It is possible that your phone volume is turned down. Try increasing your phone volume while using the navigator application.

    You can also use your speakerphone to hear the turn-by-turn directions.
