How to Use Call Gate™

Call Gate will be activated once your order has been processed. Follow the steps below to set up Call Gate.

Create a Calling Features Assistant password

Skip this step if you already have a Calling Features Assistant password.

1. Dial into the Calling Features Assistant (310-8682) on a touch-tone phone. Your first call must be from the line on which Call Gate has been activated. The first time you access this service, you will be prompted to create a password. Enter your password, then press #. Make note of your password.
2. Press * to exit.

NOTE: Once you have created your password, you will be able to dial the Calling Features Assistant from any touch-tone phone in any location. If you are calling from outside Alberta dial 1-403-263-6981 or 1-780-428-6824. From outside B.C. dial 1-604-520-3212. Long distance charges will apply.

To turn Call Gate on or off:

1. Dial 310-8682.
2. Enter your area code and phone number, then press # (only if away from home).
3. Enter your password, then press #.
4. From the Main Menu, press 3 for Call Gate.
5. Press 1 to turn the service on. Press 2 to turn it off.

To block outbound calls:

1. Dial 310-8682.
2. Enter your area code and phone number, then press # (only if away from home).
3. Enter your password, then press #.
4. From the Main Menu, press 3 for Call Gate.
5. Press 3 for your Options.
6. Press 2 to Add or Change, then
   1. Press 2 to block all direct-dialed Long Distance numbers (includes all 1-900 numbers and long distance Directory Assistance) NOTE: you can still dial toll-free (1-800, 1-888, etc.) numbers
   2. Press 3 to block 1-900 numbers
   3. Press 4 to block local and long distance Directory Assistance (411, 555-1212)
   4. Press 5 to block Operator Assisted (0+) calls
   5. Press 8 to block 1-800/Toll-free numbers

To create a list of specific numbers to be blocked:

1. Dial 310-8682.
2. Enter your area code and phone number, then press # (only if away from home).
3. Enter your password, then press #.
4. From the Main Menu, press 3 for Call Gate.
5. Press 3 for your Options.
6. Press 2 to Add or Change, then
   1. Press 6 to block specific numbers
   2. Follow the prompts to add, play back, edit or make deletions to your list.

To set up a Call Gate code:

1. Dial 310-8682.
2. Enter your area code and phone number, then press # (only if away from home).
3. Enter your password, then press #.
4. From the Main Menu, press 3 for Call Gate.
5. Press 9 to set Call Gate code
