Do I need to initially program the weemote, remote control or does it work out of the box?
The weemote® comes pre-programmed to 5 family channels from the TELUS TV Family theme pack. These channels include:
- Button 1: Treehouse
- Button 2: BBC Kids
- Button 3: Discovery Kids
- Button 4: Teletoon
- Button 5: Family
The weemote is also pre-programmed to work with the TELUS TV digital box.
You will, however, have to program the weemote to work with your TV (unless you have a Sony TV, which is the default setting). If you do not have a Sony TV, and have not programmed your weemote, your TV will not respond to the power button, nor will the volume buttons on the weemote work. Please refer to page 10 of the Parent's guide for more information on how to program your TV.
-
The weemote's red LED light does not light or flash properly.
Ensure you have installed the batteries properly. Also ensure that the batteries are not dead or too weak to operate the weemote®. Refer to page 7 of the Parent?s Guide for more information on installing batteries.
-
The weemote powers on my TV or TELUS digital box but does not change channels.
The weemote® must have at least one channel programmed to enable channel changing. Press the channel buttons you programmed. If the LED light is still dim the channels have not been programmed properly. Please go back and re-enter your channels. Refer to page 17 of the Parent?s Guide for more information.
Note: Pressing the "FAV" button at end of the favourite channel programming sequence will not store the favourite channel.
If your setup is TV only, make sure you did not program in a Set-Top code by mistake. Try clearing the STB (Set-Top Box) code by referring to the reference guide and entering the "333" delete command.
Also ensure that you have set the proper code in the weemote. Sometimes a code will only partially work. Please refer to question 11 for more details on program the TELUS digital box.
-
The correct channel digits appear on my TV but the channel does not change.
Make sure you programmed in the ENTER or 3-Digit option, depending on what your equipment requires. Some TV's or Set-Top digital boxes will not change channels until either 3 complete digits or an ENTER command has been sent from the weemote®.

I have a Sony TV (TV Setup Only) and the favourite channels that appear on the TV are totally different than the ones I initially programmed.
Check to ensure that you have entered the correct channel number code into the weemote®. The weemote is designed to output exactly the channel number you program in when pressing the channel buttons in normal operation. Keep trying other codes. Refer to page 17 of the Parent?s Guide for more information on programming your favourite channels.
-
The channel digits on my TV display always show either the first or last digit I programmed in. For example, channel 57 shows up as channel 5 or 7.
You need to make some speed adjustments in the weemote®. Refer to the Speed Adjustment Information on the main support page.
-
Whenever I turn on the TELUS digital box, the TV turns on, then back off.
Check to see if your TV is plugged into your TELUS digital box. If so, plug it directly into an AC outlet.
-
The channel up/down button only goes to the channels I programmed in the weemote, not to all channels.
The weemote® was designed to limit channel access. You cannot change this setting in this model. The factory setting limits channel access to only the channels programmed into the unit, preventing children from accessing channels you do not want them to watch.
-
Sometimes the weemote seems to get confused. For instance, the programmed channels get knocked out of alignment when the child is pressing the buttons too quickly.
Make sure you programmed in the ENTER or 3-Digit option, depending on what your equipment requires. Some TV's and digital boxes will delay until they change channels if they do not see 3-Digits or an ENTER command. Without this option set, channel changing will be unreliable.
Depending on your TV or Set-Top device, the weemote® may be sending the channel changing information too slowly. Refer to the Speed Adjustment Information on the main support page, which describes how you can make speed adjustment settings.
-
Can I change the initial 5 pre-programmed family channels on my weemote or add more channels?
You can always add more channels (up to 10) or change some of the existing pre-sets. Refer to page 18 of the Parents Guide for detailed channel programming instructions.
-
My digital box is not responding to the weemote, how do I re-program the weemote to recognize my TELUS digital box?

- Press and hold the "STB" button for about three seconds until the LED light begins to flash, then release the button.
- Enter 256 (the TELUS digital box code number).
- Press the "100" button twice.
