If protecting your privacy is a concern for you, there a variety of options that provide a balance of control between you and the caller and have contributed to a significant decline in the number of nuisance calls reported each year.
Calling features
Call Display
Call Display shows you the names and numbers of incoming calls on your phone's display screen. It also stores the names and numbers of callers, so you can even see who called while you were out. Available for a monthly rate. Learn more
Call Trace
Call Trace provides legal evidence of threatening, harassing or obscene phone calls by activating an immediate trace of the last incoming call. This is a free service. Learn more
Call Screen
Call Screen intercepts calls from pre-selected numbers and plays a recording that says "The party you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time." Available for a monthly rate. Learn more
Per Call Blocking
Per Call Blocking prevents your name and number from being displayed when you call someone who has Call Display. The word "private" will appear on their display instead. This is a free service. Learn more
Automatic Blocking
On a permanent basis, prevents your name and number from being provided to people who use Call Display or Call Return. Available for a monthly rate. Contact one of our TELUS customer service representatives at 310-2255 for further information about this option. Note that some people may choose not to answer blocked calls.
Private Name
Displays "Private Name" instead of your name, but will still display your number. Contact one of our TELUS customer service representatives at 310-2255 for further information about this option. Private Name is provided automatically to customers with Non-Published Numbers.
Directory listing
Non-Published Number
For $2.00 a month, TELUS will not publish your name or number in the TELUS residential directory or make this information available through directory assistance (411) and the online phone book. NOTE: If you call someone who has Call Display, the words "Private Name" will appear instead of your name. If you want to prevent the display of your number, you must also use Per-Call-Blocking.
You can change your directory listing online. You will first be prompted to log in to telus.com, if you are not a registered user click the "Register now" link on the log in page and continue through the short registration process. Alternatively, you can call one of our TELUS customer service representatives at 310-2255.
Name Changes
Names are displayed as they appear in the directory. You may change the name that appears free of charge for the first change. A charge of $25.00 applies for each subsequent name change. Some restrictions apply. Please call one of our TELUS customer service representatives at 310-2255 if a name change is necessary.
