Creating a guest network (Actiontec V1000H/V2000H) — For TELUS Business customers

Create a guest network on Actiontec V1000H/V2000H modems to securely share internet access with others.

A guest network is a secondary network that provides secure internet access for your guests. This network can have a different password from your main network. Devices connected to the guest network will be able to access the internet, but will not be to access your business's other shared files, printers, network storage, etc.

Guest Network Setup (Actiontec V1000H/V2000H)

If you have the Actiontec V1000H/V2000H Modem, you can create a guest network.

To set up or modify your guest network, you need to log into your modem by entering
192.168.1.254
into the address bar of your web browser.

To log in to your modem, find the admin login information located on the sticker on the side of the modem. Enter the information in the username and password fields at the top right of the page.

: If you have previously changed the default settings and can’t remember your password, you will have to
reset your business router to default settings
.

Once you have logged in, select the
Wireless Setup
tab at the top.

You will now be able to enable and customize your guest network settings.

  1. Wireless Radio
    : Enable

  2. Select SSID
    : Select TELUS1234-
    Guest
    -2.4G (or 5G). The “1234” digits will differ according to your modem

  3. SSID State
    : Enable

  4. SSID Guest
    : Enable

  5. SSID Broadcast
    : Enable

  6. SSID Name
    : If you would like to create a custom network name for the guest network, you can customize it under the SSID Name section. Make sure the name has the words “
    Guest
    ” on it for your reference. If you do not want to create a custom network name, leave this field as is

  7. Security
    : WPA2

  8. WPA Type
    : WPS2

  9. Encryption Type
    : AES

  10. Security Key Type
    : Select “Use Custom Key/Passphrase”. Then click on the textbox below and type in the password you would like to use for your guest network. It is recommended this password is not the same as your main network password

When you are done, select
Apply
to complete the guest network setup.
