How to activate and use Instant Voicemail to deliver voicemails as audio files in text messages

Instant Voicemail is a service that lets you receive your voicemail as an audio file to your text message inbox.

Compatible devices

Almost all devices in the market that can send and receive Picture, Audio and Video messages support the Instant Voicemail service.

How to use Instant Voicemail

When you receive a new voicemail, instead of receiving the notification with a traditional Voicemail Message Waiting Indictor (MWI), you receive a text message with the voicemail audio file as the attachment, and the message shows coming from the sender.

For example: If you receive a voicemail from John, you see that John sends you a text message with the voicemail in an audio file attachment. You can then listen to the message by clicking the audio file. There is no need to call in to your voicemail and listen to voicemail instructions or previous voicemail messages. You can also forward the audio file, save the audio file to your phone or upload it to the cloud. Your voicemails will still be accessible via your mailbox, where you still have the option to call in and check and clean out your messages.

Notes
:

  • You need data to use this service because downloading the audio file will use data

  • Make sure that you have data roaming when you are outside Canada. Data roaming charges will apply

  • You cannot download voicemail audio file using Wi-Fi
