Instructions for customising the video settings on your Optik TV
Adjusting picture settings
The aspect ratio on your TV should already be set when you first get Optik TV installed. However, should you get a new TV or on the off chance the aspect ratio changes, follow the steps outlined below for your Optik TV equipment.
For HD and 4K Digital Box users
:
Press
Menu
on your remote control
Select
Settings
Select
Television
Select
Screen aspect ratio
, and choose the best resolution for your TV
Note
: Only 4K Digital Boxes can support 2160p 60Hz resolution for the model of your TV.
Select
Continue
and press
OK
Select
Start test
. The system will verify whether your TV can display the selected setting
If you can see the normal video on your screen, select
Keep setting
If you see a black screen or a distorted image, your TV may not be able to display the selected setting or it may not be properly connected to your digital box. Select
Cancel setting
and try a different aspect ratio
For TELUS TV Digital Box users
:
Navigate to
Settings
(under the profile icon in the top-right corner)
Select
Device Settings
Select
Device Preferences
Select
Display and Sound
Select
Resolution
, and select
Auto
. This will have the TELUS TV Digital Box detect the best resolution for your TV and apply it. You may also manually select a resolution of your choosing
Once you have chosen your resolution, select
Revert
to go back to your previous resolution, or
Keep
to continue with the chosen resolution
Enlarge or shrink the image you see on your HDTV
If you watch non-HD (standard definition) programming or some HD programming on a widescreen HDTV, black bars may appear on the sides of the program or in some cases a picture frame may appear around the image. To remove or minimize the bars, please follow the steps outlined below:
For HD and 4K Digital Box users
:
While on the program you wish to change, press
Options
on your remote. The options menu will appear on the right hand side of your screen
Scroll to
TV Zoom
. Here you'll see three settings:
Normal
: displays the normal image
Stretch
: expands the image to fill the screen (may cause distortion of picture)
Zoom
: 1 to 3 increases the zoom and may cut off some of the picture
Note
: Zoom will affect all channels, not just the one on which you’ve changed the settings.
For TELUS TV Digital Box users

Overscan
and follow the on-screen instructions
Advanced display settings
This setting will allow you to select among supported display settings
For TELUS TV Digital Box users:

This setting is not currently available for HD and 4K Digital Box users.
Picture-in-picture
Picture-in-picture shrinks the currently playing video into a small player, so you can keep watching while browsing through other content on TELUS TV+.
For TELUS TV Digital Box users:
Picture-in-picture functionality will be visible in the guide and while hovering over previews when pressing the prev button on your remote.
This setting is not currently available for HD and 4K Digital Box users.
Dynamic Range Switching
Your TELUS TV Digital Box has a setting that will enable it to automatically switch to HDR if the content you are watching supports it.
To enable Dynamic Range Switching, navigate to
Settings > Device settings > Device Preferences > Display & Sound > Match content dynamic range
