Using new ways of learning to improve mental health

Feb 22, 2023

The hatching of new chicks is providing students in Atlantic Canada with an opportunity for memorable, hands-on learning.

The Egg to Chick program, led by our partners at Agriculture in the Classroom Canada, connects students with technology and education on animal health and agriculture, while bringing smiles to faces and enriching the learning experience.

By funding the Egg to Chick program, TELUS Friendly Future Foundation is bringing so much joy to the kids in our classroom. It’s an incredible initiative to support both educational outcomes and to see improvements in our students’ mental health.

The Egg to Chick program uses farming technology, including brooders, digital incubators and candlers, to teach the students about the life-cycle and care of animals, while connecting them with local farmers to facilitate new learning opportunities.

With a $20,000 grant from the TELUS Atlantic Canada Community Board, Agriculture in the Classroom PEI has been able to upgrade the technology infrastructure of the program to help facilitate learning and expand the circulation of the program into new classrooms.

TELUS Friendly Future Foundation is an independent registered charity that supports the well-being of youth facing obstacles reaching their full potential.
