Important new features and updates for TELUS Business Connect 24.1 release
The latest core release for TELUS Business Connect® 24.1 will be implemented on February 21, 2024. The updates to the desktop and mobile apps will be released on March 11. Here is a summary of the new features available, which edition they impact and the updates that are part of the release.
Unified Desktop App
The following updates are available for Enhanced, Complete and Complete Plus editions, and will be implemented on March 11, 2024 to simplify administration and improve the user experience.
We've enabled the option for Company Admins to export the App Version Report in a CSV file and import it to Google Sheets or Excel to track which users are not up to date.
Ringer volume can now be adjusted separately from the general app volume, so you can turn down the ringer volume while on a call.
You can upload audio files for more appealing personalized ringtones.
End to End Encryption (E2EE) is now available for desktop app phone calls within your company.
This feature is not available for recorded calls, guests, callers with PSTNs or hard phones.
It is now much easier to merge or swap calls for our desktop clients.
You can open multiple conversations in separate pop-up windows for better multi-tasking.
We've expanded the emoji library, so you can liven up your conversations. Share your mood or sprinkle some fun into your chats with new faces, gestures, objects and more.
You can now set specific ringtones for each of your phone numbers. You can also set specific ringtones for internal, external or queued calls.
You can set reminders for messages you want to revisit at a later time and can also update the reminder status accordingly.
Unified Mobile App
The following updates are available for all editions except Voice and will be implemented on March 11, 2024 to provide a more user-friendly experience.
The updates above related to the emoji library, specific ringtones and message reminders are also available on the Mobile app.
The
Video
tab has been redesigned to show past meetings and recordings and to create quick buttons for the PMI and room control menu.
Filter your call history by incoming, outgoing and missed calls.
iOS App can now show the dialed number on the incoming call screen according to settings in your Voice Manager.

Admin and Core/Voice Manager
The following updates are available for all editions:
Passwords must now meet all new strong password requirements:
Must have a lowercase letter
Must have an uppercase letter
Must have a special character
Previous last five passwords are not allowed
You can now assign a custom Caller ID to your main company. For multi-site customers, there is also an option to use separate Caller IDs for each site. Your Caller ID information should not mislead the call recipient about your identity. When configuring customized Caller ID information, the following are prohibited:
Profane language and indecent names
Creating a false caller ID
Falsely representing yourself as a government agency
Representing yourself as another company unless it is your company's authorized agent
False representation of any kind
Call queue managers can easily forward all call queue calls to voicemail, an extension or external number or an announcement with the click of a switch. Custom rules are no longer necessary.
The Welcome Email login has been updated to identify the "Virtual install" option and the phone number associated with it (effective March 14ᵗʰ).
Rooms (Android, Mac, Windows)
The following updates are available for all editions with a purchased license.
The IT admin can now reboot the Android Rooms host and controller from the Voice Manager to allow them to remotely solve some host and controller problems. Also, the Android Room host and controller can be rebooted weekly or at a scheduled time to keep both of them operating smoothly.
Digital Signage enables customers to deploy TV screens in open areas displaying pre-configured content. The content will display in Rooms when not in a meeting but in idle status.
Integrations
The following update is available for all editions.
Admin users of the embedded app for MS Teams will be provided a table of the MS Teams Presence Sync users in Voice Manager using the
Presence Sync
setting tool.
Hardware
The following update is available for all editions except Voice.
Phone firmware upgrades now follow a quarterly schedule, making it easier for IT administrators to plan around rollout events.
When testing and certification of new phone firmware has been completed, it will be rolled out to applicable models starting on the third Monday of every March, June, September and November. The upgrade process typically takes two weeks to complete.
New firmware availability will be communicated via a new "Phone Firmware" section in the phone’s release notes.
