Closed captioning on TELUS Business Optik TV

Turn captioning on or off and learn how to change settings

Turn closed captioning on

  1. Press the
    Options
    button on your remote

  2. Select
    Closed Captioning

  3. Select
    On

Note
: Closed captions are now available for TFC.

Turn closed captioning off

  1. Press
    Options
    button on remote

  2. Select
    Closed Captioning

  3. Select
    Off

Customize closed captioning settings

You can change closed captioning text sizes, colours, styles and background colours.

  • Choose from 3 text sizes

  • Choose from 8 colours

  • Choose opaque or semi-transparent lettering

  • Select text styles

  • Select background colours

  1. Press
    Menu

  2. Select
    Settings

  3. Select
    Television

  4. Select
    Closed Captioning

  5. Select
    Digital Closed Captioning

  6. Ensure
    Digital closed captions
    is
    On

  7. Select the options you want to change

  8. Under
    Digital closed captioning
    ensure
    Closed caption 1
    is selected

    • Under
      Text Settings
      you can change:

      • Size: Larger, Normal, Smaller

      • Colour: Black, White, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Magenta, Cyan

      • Opacity: Opaque, Semi-Transparent

      • Edge Style: None, Raised, Depressed, Uniform, Drop Shadowed

      • Under the
        Background
        and
        Panel
        settings you can change the colour and opacity of the background screen and closed captioning frame

  9. Select
    Save
    and press
    OK

Note
: If a program you expect to have closed captioning does not have closed captioning try this solution.

  1. Go to
    Menu

  2. Select
    Settings

  3. Select
    Television

  4. Select
    Closed captioning

  5. Set
    Digital closed captioning
    to
    Off

  6. Set
    Standard closed captioning
    to
    On

  7. You should also select
    Closed captioning 1

Note
:

  • You will lose any customized changes like color or font size changes when you do this temporarily.

  • Reverse these steps to turn your customized settings back on
