Before you start
Before you get started, here’s a list of what you’ll need:
- ADC-VDB750 doorbell, along with included accessories
- Smartphone or tablet
- Screwdriver
- Drill (optional)
- 2.5 Mbps upload Wi-Fi
- Wired doorbell transformer (AC 16-24 VAC, 10-40VA or DC 15-24 VDC, 6-20W)
- Existing wired chime box
Important
: If your chime is a digital chime, a separate Digital Circuit Adapter is required. - The Digital Circuit Adapter for ADC-VDB750 can be purchased at.telus.com/WorksWith
Instructions for a new installation or standard doorbell replacement
Note
: If you’re replacing an existing Slimline doorbell camera using a backplate adapter, please skip to the How to replace the Slimline doorbell camera with a backplate adapter
section below.Physical installation
- Turn off power to the doorbell circuit (transformer).
- Remove any existing power module from the in-home chime (e.g. from Slimline installations with a digital chime).
- Verify that the chime wire terminals are connected to one wire run from the transformer and one wire run from the doorbell.
- If the in-home chime is digital (rather than mechanical), connect the Digital Circuit Adapter for ADC-VDB750 (sold separately through) to the chime by connecting one wire to each of the terminals (leaving the existing wires in place, polarity does not matter).telus.com/WorksWith
- If there is no wired in-home chime, verify that the power source (AC or DC) meets the product requirements, and wire directly (polarity does not matter) to the ADC-VDB750 (no in-line resistor is required).
- Remove the existing doorbell from the wall and disconnect the wires. Secure the wires so that they can be connected in a later step.
- Thread the doorbell wires through the wallplate, making sure to thread the wires underneath the plastic bridges of the wallplate, leading the wires to the screw terminals and secure them to the wallplate screw terminals.
Important: Minimize the length of excess wire leads sticking out from the area surrounding the screw terminals. Excess wire can interfere with the assembly to the ADC-VDB750 and may result in the device not powering on. - Mount the wallplate to the surface with the provided screws and anchors.
- Connect the ADC-VDB750 device to the wallplate by first securing/latching the top edge, then pushing the device into the wallplate, and lastly, securing the bottom set screw with a screwdriver.
- Restore power to the doorbell circuit (transformer).

Instructions to connect the ADC-VDB750 to the network
- Log in to the.TELUS SmartHome app
- You will need your username and password to log in.
- Tap the "hamburger" icon (three horizontal lines).
- TapAdd Device.
- TapDoorbell Camera.
- TapADC-VDB750.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
How to replace the Slimline 2 ADC-VDB150X doorbell camera with a backplate adapter
Note
: This optional procedure is designed for easy replacement of the Slimline 2 ADC-VDB150X doorbell camera with an ADC-VDB750 using the original Slimline wall plate and the Slimline Backplate Adapter for ADC-VDB750, eliminating the need to rewire.Physical installation
- Turn off power to the doorbell circuit (transformer).
- Remove any existing power module from the in-home chime (e.g. from Slimline installations with a digital chime).
- Verify that the chime wire terminals are connected to one wire run from the transformer and one wire run from the doorbell.

- If the in-home chime is digital (rather than mechanical), connect the Digital Circuit Adapter for ADC-VDB750 (sold separately through) to the chime by connecting one wire to each of the terminals (leaving the existing wires in place, polarity does not matter).telus.com/WorksWithIf there is no wired in-home chime, verify that the power source (AC or DC) meets the product requirements, and wire directly (polarity does not matter) to the ADC-VDB750 (no in-line resistor is required).
- Remove the existing Slimline 2 ADC-VDB150X doorbell camera from the existing wallplate by loosening the bottom set screw.
- Keep the wallplate installed, making sure that the wiring is connected well to the two screw terminals and ensuring that the bottom set screw is loosened enough to not be sticking out at all above the threads at the bottom of the wallplate.
- Secure the ADC-VDB750 device to the Slimline Backplate Adapter for ADC-VDB750 and secure at the bottom of the adapter with the provided set screw.
- Connect the backplate adapter (with ADC-VDB750 device attached) to the existing Slimline wallplate by latching the top edge, then pushing the device into the wallplate, and then securing the original bottom set screw.
- Restore power to the doorbell circuit (transformer).

Instructions to connect the ADC-VDB750 to the network

How to install the Mechanical Chime Dongle
The Mechanical Chime Dongle is intended to be installed in situations where the power source is not supplying the expected voltage to the ADC-VDB750 doorbell camera, and that's resulting in a rattling/humming sounds from a mechanical chime (e.g., after a button press).
If the mechanical chime is behaving normally after installation of the ADC-VDB750, the Mechanical Chime Dongle is not needed.
Please note
: Digital chimes should not have this dongle installed.
Installation steps
- Turn off power to the doorbell circuit.
- Remove the chime cover and any existing power module or resistor from the chime.
- Verify that the chime wire terminals are connected to one wire run from the transformer and one wire run from the doorbell.
- Connect one wire lead of the Mechanical Chime Dongle to each of the chime terminals, leaving the existing wires in place (polarity doesn't matter).
- Tuck the Mechanical Chime Dongle into the chime, avoiding any interference with the plungers.
- Replace the chime cover and restore power to the doorbell circuit.
