Outbound Calling Name Display

Outbound Calling Name Display will share your account name with the person that you are calling. If their device supports name display, your name will appear on their device when receiving a call from you.

This is a common misconception, but most Mobility customers do not have Outbound Calling Name Display. The default feature on TELUS Mobility plans will only share your phone number with the person you’re calling, not your name.

In order to use Outbound Calling Name Display, you must have a postpaid price plan. You must also have a device that is certified for the TELUS VoLTE network, and VoLTE must be enabled on your device. Here is a complete

: Outbound Calling Name Display is currently not supported for customers on Prepaid plans.

Outbound Calling Name Display can be added to your account for free. Note that business and corporate customers will have to pay a monthly $3 fee.

You cannot customize your display name. The name that is displayed is the name that you used to create your TELUS account.

Unfortunately, this is one of the limitations of Outbound Calling Name Display. The display name comes from the name used to create the TELUS account. Therefore, all plan members will display the same name. Plan members who don’t want to display this name can remove Outbound Calling Name Display.

Double-check that your device is a certified VoLTE device on the TELUS network and that VoLTE is activated. Follow these steps to

activate VoLTE on your device

To hide your display name for a single call, you can add before the destination number. For example, #31#416-123-4567. This will conceal your name and number and you will appear as “Private” to the person you are calling. Call Display will return to normal for subsequent calls.

You can also disable Outbound Calling Name Display in your phone settings.

This will conceal your name and number and you will appear as “Private” to the person you are calling until the setting is enabled again.

If you want to permanently disable Outbound Calling Name Display, you can go to your

My TELUS account

and remove it from your account.

Once Outbound Calling Name Display is active on your account, the TELUS network will share your name with the people you are calling. However, the recipient device and network must also support Calling Name Display for your name to be received. If not, the characters of your name may be changed or not shown at all in some cases.

Also, it is important to remember that VoLTE is required for Outbound Calling Name Display to work. If VoLTE has been turned off on your device or has not been added to your account then your name will not be sent when making calls.
