How to install your TELUS Indoor Camera / Video on how to install your SmartHome+ Indoor Camera 

Before you start, unbox your indoor camera and identify all of the components:
- 1x Indoor camera device with integrated stand
- 1x Wall mount
- 1x 3M tape
- 1x Wall anchor
- 1x Self-tapping screw
- 1x USB-PD AC/DC adaptor
- 1x USB-C cable (1.5 m)
- 1x Quick-start QR code for mobile app (printed on inside lid of box)

You will also need the following:
- A smartphone or tablet
- Wi-Fi coverage with minimum upload speed of 2.5 Mbps at the installation site

Optional (for mounting the camera):
- Screwdriver 
- Drill
- Pencil 
- 6 mm (1/4 inch) drill bit


How to install your TELUS Indoor Camera / Tools and equipment you need

Find a power outlet near the installation site and plug in the camera. Ensure the location you select has the following: 
- Indoor power outlet nearby
- Good Wi-Fi signal strength
- Clear view of the area

__Mounting the camera (optional)__
There are two ways you can mount the camera to a wall:
- Attach the magnetized ring with the adhesive provided.
- Use the wall anchor and self-tapping screw provided to secure the camera in place.


How to install your TELUS Indoor Camera / Step 1: Find a place to install the camera.

The indoor camera requires a minimum of 2.5 Mbps upload speed to operate. 

On your smartphone, open your browser and go to [telus.com/SpeedTest](https://www.telus.com/en/support/article/speed-test) (Safari on Apple iPhones or Google Chrome on Android phones) to determine the internet speed in the area you’d like your camera installed. 

If you aren’t getting a Wi-Fi signal or your Wi-Fi signal is weak, contact your internet service provider. You might need to upgrade your plan to get more upload bandwidth or to improve your home's Wi-Fi coverage.

How to install your TELUS Indoor Camera / Step 2: Check your Wi-Fi speed at the installation site.

1. Connect the power cable to the camera and USB-C power supply.
2. Plug the power supply into the power outlet and wait about 15 seconds for the LEDs to turn solid green.

__Are the LEDs not turning solid green?__
Press and hold the __RESET__ button for 6 seconds until the light cycles to a solid green.

Download the TELUS SmartHome+ app and then log in with your My TELUS credentials.

How to install your TELUS Indoor Camera / Step 4: Get the TELUS SmartHome+ app.

1. Log in to the TELUS SmartHome+ app on your mobile device. 
2. In the SmartHome+ app, select the __+__ sign in the top right-hand corner of either the __Home__ tab or __Manage Devices__ tab.
3. Select __Device__ on the bottom sheet that appears.
4. Select __TELUS camera devices__ from the device category list.
5. Scan your device’s QR code. The code can be found on the back of the device’s packaging. 
    - __Note__: Ensure the QR code is in focus, well-lit and that there are no objects between your camera and the code.
6. Select __Device already installed__.
7. Select __Find device__.
8. Grant Bluetooth permission on your mobile device.
9. If prompted, accept the pairing request.
10. Select __Connect to Wi-Fi__.
11. When presented with the option, connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
12. Enter your Wi-Fi network password if or when prompted.
13. Select __Continue__ once the device connection is successful.

1. In the SmartHome+ app, select __View live feed__ of the indoor camera on the __Home__ tab. Or, go to the __Manage Devices__ tab and select the indoor camera.

3. Select __Recording & notification settings__.
4. Toggle on and off the events that should be recorded and whether you would like to be notified.

- Through the corner opening of a door, garage or window to an indoor power outlet
- Along siding to an outdoor power outlet with a weatherproof enclosure
- Through a drilled hole in the wall (use a 13 mm or ½ inch drill bit)

1. Place the camera 2.5 to 4.5 metres (8 to 15 feet) above the ground.
2. Tilt the camera downward 30 to 60 degrees‌ — ‌enough to see people’s faces.
3. Make sure the camera has a clear view and the horizon is level.

To install the wall anchors, you’ll need a masonry drill bit, drill‌ and hammer (optional).

1. Using a 6 mm (¼ inch) masonry drill bit, drill two pilot holes for the wall anchors.
2. Push or hammer the wall anchors into the pilot holes.

To attach the wall mount, you’ll need a screwdriver and the outdoor camera.

Place the camera on the wall mount, ensuring the power cable is placed in the groove.

The TELUS Doorbell Camera is designed to work with all standard wired doorbell chimes. Here’s how to identify if you have one of these:
1. Push your existing doorbell to confirm you hear a chime noise from inside the house.
2. Locate the source of the noise. 

Standard doorbell chimes are typically installed high on the wall in a central location. They will have a removable cover which reveals three screw terminals marked __Rear__, __Trans__‌ or __Common__ and __Front__. Voltage in the range of 8-24v AC will be available across __Trans__ and __Front__, as well as __Trans__ and __Rear__.

__Note__: The TELUS Doorbell Camera is only compatible with 10-24v AC 10VA.

The doorbell camera has been tested with the following standard mechanical chimes: 
- Heath Zenith SL-2796-03 
- Heath Zenith SL-2735-02 
- Honeywell RCW110KB1008

The doorbell camera has been specifically tested with the following standard digital chimes:

The TELUS Doorbell Camera requires a minimum Wi-Fi signal of 2.5 Mbps upload speed to operate.

### Digital chime

To wire your digital chime, follow the steps below:
1. Insert the supplied 5-wire harness into the chime adapter.
2. Remove the cover from your chime.
3. Loosen the screws on the chime terminals labelled __Transformer__ and remove the wire from the chime terminal.
4. Connect the digital wire harness wire labelled __Trans__ to the chime terminal labelled __Transformer__ by inserting the spade under the screw and tightening it.
5. Connect the digital wire harness wire labelled __T2__ to the loose wire removed from the chime terminal labelled __Transformer__ using a wire nut (or push fitting).
6. Remove the wire from the chime terminal labelled __Front__ by loosening screws and removing the wire.
7. Connect the digital wire harness wire labelled __Front__ to the chime terminal labelled __Front__ by inserting the spade under the screw and tightening it.
8. Connect the digital wire harness wire labelled __F2__ to the loose wire removed from the chime terminal labelled __Front__ using a wire nut (or push fitting).
9. Locate an existing multi-wire connector, likely a wire nut, and add the digital wire harness wire labelled __T3__ to this bundle by unscrewing the wire nut, inserting the wire into the bundle and replacing the wire nut.
10. Using the supplied double-sided circle adhesive, mount the adaptor to the front of the chime.
11. Replace the cover on your chime.

1. Log in to the TELUS SmartHome+ app on your mobile device. 
2. In the SmartHome+ app, select the __+__ sign in the top right-hand corner of either your __Home__ tab or __Devices__ tab.
3. Select __Device__ on the bottom sheet that appears.
4. Select __TELUS camera devices__ from the device category list.
5. Scan your device’s QR code: The code can be found on the back of the device’s packaging and on the included chime adapter. Ensure the QR code is in focus, well-lit and that there are no objects between your camera and the code.

8. Grant Bluetooth permission on your mobile device.

Let’s connect your smartphone to the camera’s temporary Wi-Fi network. This will allow you to add the camera to your home Wi-Fi network.

1. On your smartphone, exit the TELUS SmartHome app and go to the __Settings__ app
2. Connect your smartphone to the camera’s temporary Wi-Fi network: __ADC-V723 (XX:XX:XX)__

5. Select your home Wi-Fi network name from the list

Here are options to run your cable:
- Through the corner opening of a door, garage or window to an indoor power outlet
- Along siding to an outdoor power outlet with a weatherproof enclosure
- Through a drilled hole in the wall (use a 13mm (1/2 inch) drill bit)

__Tip__: Use caulk to seal around the drilled hole.

1. Place the camera 2.5 to 4.5 metres (8 to 15 feet) above the ground

2. Tilt the camera downward 30 to 60 degrees, enough to see people’s faces 
3. Make sure the camera has a clear view and the horizon is level
   __No clear view?__
   If you are unable to achieve a clear view at your chosen location, consider finding a different location to mount your camera.

__Power cycle__
If you have issues connecting the camera to a TELUS account, power cycle the camera (unplug the power cable from the camera and plug it back in to restore power). 

__Factory reset__
If issues persist, reset the camera to factory defaults. Press and hold the button on the bottom of the camera for 15 seconds until the light starts flashing red and green. 

__Note__: You will need to reinstall the camera after a factory reset.

5. Select the correct camera type and proceed to the "Verify LED light" screen.
6. Make sure the camera is plugged in and the LED is flashing white. If the LED is not flashing white, press and hold the button on the back of the camera until the LED starts flashing white and then release. Select __Next__ on the top right of the screen to continue.
7. Please allow Alarm.com access to this device’s location. Select __Allow__.
8. Type in a name for your camera and select __Next__.
9. Once your device has been found, verify the last six digits of the MAC address (can be found on the back of the camera) and select the device you would like to install.
10. Exit the TELUS SmartHome app and proceed to your phone’s __Settings__ to connect to the __ALARM (XX:XX:XX)__ network. After you successfully connect to the ALARM network, return to the TELUS SmartHome app and select __Next__.
11. Scan for your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the Wi-Fi password, then select __Next__.
12. After the installation process is completed, select __Next__.
13. Select __Done__ at the additional setup screen.
14. Your video feed should show up under __Video__ on your TELUS SmartHome app.
15. Follow the instructions below to mount your Outdoor Camera.

Installing your Outdoor Camera (V722 model) / Install the camera on your SmartHome App

When selecting a location to mount your Outdoor Camera, there are 3 important considerations:

__Wi-Fi strength__. Your camera requires a minimum of 2.5 MegaBits per second upload speed, but a stronger signal will create a more reliable and higher quality video feed. To test your Wi-Fi speed at your chosen location, run a speed test on a phone or laptop at that location by visiting [__telus.com/speedtest__](https://www.telus.com/en/support/article/speed-test). If you are unable to find a location with adequate Wi-Fi coverage, consider purchasing a TELUS Boost Wi-Fi to extend the range of your home Wi-Fi network. Call TELUS support for more information.

__Cable length__. Before mounting, you’ll need to plot a route to run the cable to a power outlet. In some cases, you may want to drill through a wall or run the cable along the siding. For more length, a DC extension cable can be purchased to insert between the camera and outlet segments of cable. The cable could be secured to the wall with staples, a cable track or raceway or any number of cable fasteners available at your local hardware store. Be sure to allow enough slack to adjust the cable as needed.

__Camera angle__. You will want to aim the camera with a good view. You can view the live feed of a connected camera in your SmartHome app. For your video analytics to work best, the camera should be 8 to 15 feet above the ground.

To mount the outdoor camera, you’ll need to drill holes into the wall. Use the longer screws that were included with the camera if you’re drilling into wood, and we recommend using the anchors for stucco or brick walls. You can then mount the camera body into the wall using the included screws.

3. Select the gear icon at the top right-hand corner.
4. Select __Recording rules__.
5. Select __Add rule__ at the top right-hand corner.
