Buy Now Pay Later alert in TELUS Online Security

The Buy Now, Pay Later alerts are an extension of our existing Transaction Monitoring feature.

As of today, our Transaction Monitoring feature can track a user’s transactions on all linked financial accounts and alert the user if purchases, transactions or cash withdrawals in large amounts or any other unusual activity in the following accounts is detected:

With an upcoming release, we will also track payments to Buy Now, Pay Later lenders.

The new Buy Now, Pay Later alert feature was launched on June 15, 2023. The alerts will be available on both the MyNorton portal and the Identity app.

Customers who have the TELUS Online Security Ultimate or TELUS Online Security Guardian Plus plan will be able to use this feature.

If a new payment plan is detected as part of a user’s monitored transactions, an alert is prompted with information about the lender, date, transaction amount and spending category.

: The user will be asked to verify whether they recognize the transaction or not.

For each alert, the user will be asked to verify whether they recognize the transaction or not (see the screenshot above). If it is recognized, we will save the alert as recognized and allow the user to go back and see the additional alert details when needed.

Additionally, we will provide suggestions to reach out to the lender and/or the user’s preferred bank for dispute or clarification.

The alert details seen on the web apply to the mobile view within the Identity app as well. If a user recognizes the alert and selects "Yes", we will mark the alert as resolved. If the user does not recognize the alert and selects "No", suggestions on next steps to resolve will be provided.
