How to change the display name on your TELUS email

Instructions to change your display name

Every email you send has a “display name” that accompanies each email, which is displayed when your message is received. For example, emails will show as being sent from David Smith (display name) instead of DSmith (username) or DSmith@telus.net (email address).

You can use these steps to change how your messages are displayed. For example, a shortened version of your name, such as “Dave” instead of “David”.

Important
: You can’t change your name from the Gmail app on your mobile device.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. On your computer, sign in to
    Gmail
    using your TELUS email account

  2. In the top right-hand corner, click on the “nine dot”

    Account

  3. The "Account" window will open in a new browser tab. Select
    Personal info
    on the left side of the screen

  4. Select the
    Name
    field under the
    Profile
    heading

    Change name
  5. Enter your account password

    Enter password
  6. Select the pencil icon to change your display name

  7. Change your name and select
    Done

    Select done

Note
: If you get an error that says "This setting can't be changed for your account," it may mean you've changed your name too many times during a short period of time.
