Update your Huawei E182E Mobile Internet Key
Learn how to update your Huawei E182E Mobile Internet Key.
Before you update your mobile Internet key, you need to know your current firmware version.
Windows
- Insert the mobile Internet key into a USB port
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- SelectTools
- SelectDiagnostics
- Select the Device tab
If your firmware version is not 13.001.08.05.464, you are eligible for a firmware upgrade.
Mac OS X
- Insert the mobile Internet key into a USB port
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- SelectTools
- SelectDiagnostics
- Select theDevicetab
If your Firmware version is not 13.305.06.02.464, you are eligible for a firmware upgrade.
You will need to ensure that:
- Your computer battery is fully charged or is connected to a power source
- All applications on your computer are closed
- The mobile Internet key remains connected to your computer during the upgrade
Download the firmware update to your computer
Windows
To download the firmware update to your computer, do the following.
- Download the firmware update from the Huawei website
- The File Download window appears. SelectSave
- Note: If this screen does not appear, you will need to disable the pop-up blocker from your browser'sToolsmenu
- TheSave Aswindow appears. From theSave inmenu, selectDesktop
- SelectSave. The file download begins
- When the download is complete, selectClose
- The file icon appears on your Desktop
The firmware update is downloaded to your computer.
Install the firmware update
- From the Mobile Internet Key connection manager, selectDisconnect
- Note: Do not close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager window after you disconnect.
- Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Remove the SIM card from your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB portThe following error appears: The SIM/USIM card has not been detected or is invalid.
- SelectOK
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager window
- From the Desktop, double-clickE182E UTPS13.001.
- The Update Wizard window appears. Select Start
- The firmware installation begins. This can take up to five minutes
- Note: Do not disconnect the mobile Internet key from your computer during the installation process
- When the installation is finished, selectFinish
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- The Setup window appears with the following message: "An earlier version has been installed. Do you want to remove it first?"
- SelectYes
- The Mobile Internet Key Uninstall Wizard window displays. SelectNext
- Follow the on-screen prompts and selectFinish
- The Mobile Internet Key Setup Wizard window displays. SelectNext
- Follow the on-screen prompts and selectFinish
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Insert the SIM card into your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB port
The firmware update is installed on your computer.
Mac OS X
To download the firmware update to your computer, do the following.
- Download the firmware update from Huawei
- TheDownloadswindow appears. When the download is complete, select Clear and close the window
- SelectFinder
- From the left pane, select theHomeicon
- Double-click theDownloadsfolder
- Drag and drop the folder titledE182E UOTPS13to your Desktop
- The file icon appears on your Desktop
The firmware update is downloaded to your computer.
Install the firmware update
To install the downloaded firmware update, do the following.
- From the Mobile Internet Key connection manager, selectDisconnect
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager window
- Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Remove the SIM card from your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB port
- The Mobile Internet Key connection manager launches
- Close the Mobile Internet Key connection manager windowwithout selecting Connect
- From the Desktop, double-clickE182E UOTPS13
- Double-click the Software version folder
- Double-click the file located in this folder
- The Update Wizard window appears. SelectStart
- The firmware installation begins. This can take up to five minutes
- Note: Do not disconnect the mobile Internet key from your computer during the installation process
- SelectFinish
- Launch the Mobile Internet Key connection manager
- The Mobile Internet Key Installer window appears. SelectContinue
- Review the License Agreement and selectContinue
- SelectAgree
- SelectContinueand follow the on-screen prompts
- When the installation is finished, selectClose
- Remove the mobile Internet key from your computer
- Insert the SIM card into your mobile Internet key
- Reinsert the mobile Internet key in a USB port
The firmware update is installed on your computer.
