__Remote LED__: Flashes green once to acknowledge a button press on the TELUS Remote. Two flashes indicate success, three flashes indicate low battery and six flashes indicate an error. Continual flashing indicates that a firmware upgrade is in process.

__Mic/LED__: Illuminates solid white when the Google Assistant is activated and listening. Flashes white when the remote is in pairing mode.

__Input__: Allows you to change HDMI inputs when the TELUS Remote is used to control your TV.

__Power__: Wakes up the TELUS TV Digital Box or returns it to stand-by mode. Turns your TV power on or off when the TELUS Remote is being used to control your TV.

__Netflix__: Launches the Netflix application. Additional subscription may be required.

__On demand__: Launches the TELUS On Demand catalogue.

__Prime Video__: Launches the Amazon Prime Video application. Additional subscription may be required.

__Skip back__: Skip back 30 seconds.

__apps__: Opens a list of featured and applications and displays applications downloaded to the TELUS TV Digital Box

__Skip forward__: Skip ahead 30 seconds.

__Home__: Returns you to the TELUS TV home screen.

__Record (where available)__: Press once to set a recording, twice to set a series recording and three times to cancel a recording. Press and hold to bring up the recordings manager to view existing and scheduled recordings. 

__D-pad or direction pad__:

   - __Navigate up__: Press once to navigate up. In playback mode, press once to display the live guide
  - __Navigate down__: Press once to navigate down. In playback mode, press once to display the live guide
  - __Rewind/navigate left__: Press once to navigate left. In playback mode, press once to skip back or press and hold to rewind
  - __Fast forward/navigate right__: Press once to navigate right. In playback mode, press once to skip ahead or press and hold to fast forward

__OK__: Confirms your selection. Wakes up the TELUS TV Digital Box from standby mode.

__Back/exit__: 
- Returns you to the previous screen
- Briefly press and hold to return to playback
- Returns you to the Home screen when in playback mode

__Guide__: Opens the full guide. Briefly press the guide button again to exit the guide.

__Volume up/down__: Increases/decreases the volume.

__Google Assistant__: Activates the Google Assistant and turns on the microphone. You can say commands like ‘What’s on now?’ to open the guide, ‘Go to channel 400’ to change channels or ‘Open Netflix’ to launch the Netflix application. 

__Mute__: Mutes/unmutes the volume.

__Channel up/down__: Tunes to the next/previous channel. When in the guide, acts as page forward/page back.

__Number pad__: Allows you to tune directly to a desired channel using the numbers 0-9.

__Previous channel__: Returns you to the previously viewed channel.

__Options__: Brings up channel information and allows you to open the live guide, turn on closed captioning or described video (where available).

__Quick instructions for pairing your remote__

1. Press and hold the __7__ and __9__ buttons for three seconds to start pairing
2. If your remote becomes unpaired at any time, pair your remote using the same process described in Step 1 above

__Detailed instructions__

Your TELUS Remote is able to control your TELUS TV Digital Box using Infrared (IR) connectivity by default right out of the box.

For the most reliable connection, it is recommended to pair your TELUS Remote with your TELUS TV Digital Box using Bluetooth. Bluetooth connectivity has a longer working range than IR and does not require a direct line of sight between the remote and box. This gives you more freedom for where you place your TELUS TV Digital Box. 

Bluetooth connectivity is also required for Google Assistant connectivity. During the first-time installation or following a factory reset of your TELUS TV Digital Box, you will be prompted to pair your TELUS remote with your TELUS TV Digital Box via Bluetooth. 

- Simply press the __7__ and __9__ buttons for 3 seconds to pair. In some cases, your remote may pair automatically. You will see __Status: Remote control paired__ once the TELUS Remote has been successfully paired
- If your remote becomes unpaired at any time, you can always reconnect by pressing the __7__ and __9__ buttons for 3 seconds
- If your remote is unresponsive, try a new set of batteries, or [contact us](https://www.telus.com/en/support/contact-us) for a replacement

__Unpairing your remote__

If you would like to unpair the Bluetooth connection between your TELUS Remote and your TELUS TV Digital Box, you can revert to IR connectivity. From the Home screen, navigate to __Settings → Device settings → Remotes & Accessories → TELUS Remote__ and select __Unpair__.

Please note that Google Assistant will not function without a Bluetooth connection.


TELUS TV Digital Box Remote /  Pairing and unpairing your TELUS Remote with your TELUS TV Digital Box

__Quick instructions for pairing your TELUS remote__

1. When given the option of controlling your TV’s power, during first-time installation or following a factory reset, please select __Yes__
2. If your TELUS TV Digital Box recognizes the make of your TV, please select __Yes, continue__
3. If the make of your TV is not recognized, select it from the drop-down menu and proceed by testing the volume buttons

__Additional instructions__

During the first-time installation or following a factory reset of your TELUS TV Digital Box, you will be given the option of controlling your TV’s power and volume using the TELUS remote. 

- When prompted with the screen asking ‘Would you like to control your TV using your remote’, select __Yes__ to proceed 
- Your TELUS TV Digital Box should automatically recognize the make of your TV, and you will be prompted to test the volume buttons 
- If they are working, select __Yes, continue__ to proceed with your setup. If they aren’t working, select __No, try again__ to retry

At any point after the first-time installation, you can choose to control your TV using your TELUS Remote. From the __Home__ screen, navigate to __Settings__ → __Device settings__ → __Remotes & Accessories__ → __Program Remote with TV__ and follow the steps on screen.

__Unpairing your TELUS remote__

If you would no longer like your TELUS Remote to control your TV’s volume and power, you can unpair your remote. 

1. Press and hold the __Input__ and __Back__ buttons for 3 seconds until the LED on your TELUS remote lights up __solid green__
2. Press __OK__ and wait for the LED to __flash green twice__ (the remote has now been unpaired from your TV)

The TELUS Remote will now control only the TELUS TV Digital Box, and not your TV’s volume and power.

At any point, you can choose to control your TV using your TELUS Remote again. From the Home screen, navigate to __Settings → Device settings → Remotes & Accessories → Program Remote with TV__ and follow the steps on screen.


TELUS TV Digital Box Remote / Pairing and unpairing your TELUS Remote to control your TV

Follow the instructions provided to connect your AV receiver or soundbar to your TELUS TV Digital Box remote:

__Quick search by brand__

1. Locate your brand of AV receiver or soundbar from the table below, and note the brand ID

2. Press and hold both the __mute key__ and the __numeric key__ corresponding to the brand ID. The green LED will stay on. For example,  to connect to a Pioneer receiver or soundbar, press and hold __Mute__ and __4__ at the same time

3. Press the right-side of the circular pad on the remote. If the AV receiver or soundbar mutes, press the volume up/down to make sure volume control works.
- If volume works, press OK to store the code. Setup is complete
- If the AV receiver or soundbar does not mute, press the right arrow key again to test the next code. Continue pressing the right arrow key until the AV receiver or soundboard mutes, indicating a code is found. Press OK to store the code. TELUS TV Digital Box Remote / Pairing your TELUS Remote to AV receivers and soundbars

The TELUS TV Digital Box is equipped with Google Assistant. You can use your voice to control your TV, search for TV shows and movies, launch applications and more. 

SImply press the __Google Assistant__ button on your remote to activate the microphone. You will see the white LED on the remote activated and the Google Assistant interface on-screen. 

Some of the Google Assistant functionality includes:

TELUS TV Digital Box Remote / Using your TELUS Remote and Google Assistant to control your TELUS TV Digital Box with your voice

__Quick instructions__

1. Check battery life. From the __Home__ screen, navigate to __Settings__ → __Device settings__ → __Remotes & Accessories__ → __TELUS Remote__ → __Battery__. If the result is ‘Poor’, replace them with 2 new AAA batteries
2. Ensure firmware is updated. From the __Home__ screen, navigate to __Settings → Device settings → Remotes & Accessories → TELUS Remote → Firmware update__. If an update is available, download and install by pressing __OK__ on your remote
3. If your remote control becomes unresponsive, unpair and pair the remote using the instructions above

__Detailed instructions__

Your first troubleshooting step for the TELUS Remote should be to check the battery life. From the Home screen, navigate to __Settings__ → __Device settings__ → __Remotes & Accessories__ → __TELUS Remote__ → __Battery__. You will see ‘Full’, ‘Good’, ‘Fair’ or ‘Poor’. If you see ‘Poor’, you should replace the existing batteries with 2 new AAA batteries. You may also want to ensure that your batteries are seated firmly in their connectors and that the battery cover is secure.

The next troubleshooting step should be to ensure that the remote control firmware is up-to-date. From the Home screen, you can check for firmware updates by navigating to __Settings__ → __Device settings__ → __Remotes & Accessories__ → __TELUS Remote__ → __Firmware update__. If a firmware update is available, you will be able to download and install it by pressing the ‘OK’ button on your remote.

If your remote becomes unresponsive, try un-pairing and re-pairing the remote by following these steps:

1. Press and hold the __4__ and __6__ buttons until the LED on your TELUS remote lights up solid green
2. Press __OK__ and wait for the LED to flash green twice (the remote has now been un-paired from your TELUS TV Digital Box)
3. Press any key and wait a few seconds (this will cause your remote to connect via IR mode)
4. The LED should now be flashing white with any key press
5. Press the __OK__ button on the remote while pointing the remote at your TELUS TV Digital Box. This will trigger the Bluetooth pairing mechanism between your TELUS remote and TELUS TV Digital Box

TELUS TV Digital Box Remote / Troubleshooting your TELUS Remote

1. To restore your TELUS Remote to original factory settings, press and hold the __1__ and __9__ buttons simultaneously on the remote number pad for 4 seconds
2. When the green LED on the remote changes to solid green, press __OK__
3. The green LED will turn off and the white LED will start flashing

Once you have the code, proceed to step 1 on the list below.

1. Stand 6-8 feet away from the TV and make sure there is a line of sight between the remote and the digital box 
2. Make sure the digital box is on. Then turn on the device, such as your TV or amplifier, that you want your remote to control. This could be your TV or an amplifier 
3. Before you program your TV or amplifier, set the digital box volume to 25 by using the remote volume button before you program a TV or amplifier 
4. Press and hold the **Options** button for 3 seconds, until the green LED next to the Optik power button on the remote control flashes twice 
5. Enter the 4-digit code for the brand of your device as listed in the [__Remote Control Code List__](https://assets.ctfassets.net/9mt4r6ro1ay9/31mpadRDKU2ciMEAGyiOGg/a5c28ae0e5023f243198cf5c93e9b470/Slimline_Remote_2_Extended_Code_List.pdf "Slimline II remote control code list"). The LED light beside the TV power button will flash twice in red when a TV code is entered; it will flash twice in yellow when an amplifier code is entered. 6. Press and hold the **TV power** button until your TV switches off 
7. As soon as your TV switches off, remove your finger from the TV power button and press **OK** to confirm. The red TV light will flash twice 
8. Press the **TV power** button again to switch your TV back on 
9. If you do not find a code that works for you try the following code: Press and hold the Options button for 3 seconds, until the green LED next to the Optik power button on the remote control flashes twice 
10. For a TV, enter the code 0029 and your remote will search for a code that may work[br]  
**Note**: This may take up to 15 minutes. The TV or AUX light will flash when complete. Press __Okay__ and then the TV should be synced.

  - For DVD and Blue-ray, enter __0044__ 
  - For amplifiers, enter __0079__

**Note**: If your TV does not turn off, repeat steps 3-5 with the next code that’s available for your TV. Repeat these steps until you have found the correct code and your TV powers off.

Program your Classic remote for Optik TV / Program the TV button

Synchronize your remote to power on your TV and digital box at the same time:

1. Turn on your television and TELUS Digital box 
2. Press and hold **TELUS/STB** ; and then press **OK**. When both are released, the buttons will flash 2 times 
3. Enter the code **977** on the number pad. The **TELUS/STB** button will flash twice 
4. Press **TELUS/STB** and then **TV** to link the 2 devices. The buttons will flash 2 times 
5. Press **Enter/Options**
6. Press **Power**. Your TV and Optik TV digital box will now power off with your new remote 

Your TV and Digital box are now synchronized on the remote.
