How do I pair Z-Wave products?

The TELUS SmartHome Security system is compatible with a number of Z-Wave devices you can buy from your local or online retailers to further enhance your SmartHome experience. This will allow you to control all of your Z-Wave devices under the TELUS SmartHome mobile app. To pair any of these products to your SmartHome Security system, you must be subscribed to the Control plan.

Follow these simple steps to add a Z-Wave device to your main control panel:

Qolsys Panel (2019 and after):

Tap or swipe down from the top of the screen to open the menu
Select Settings
Select Advanced Settings
Enter your Master code (Disarm code)
Select Z-Wave Devices
Select Clear Device. The Control Panel will send a “clear” signal
Trigger or press the learn button* on the device to clear it from the system. The Control Panel returns to the Z-Wave Device menu when complete.
Select Add Device
Select Include. Your Control Panel will search for nearby Z-Wave devices in learn mode. If it does not connect, the device may not be near enough to the Control Panel, or the learning process may not have been triggered. Move closer and retry.
Trigger or press the Learn button on device you would like to add (the Learn button varies by device, please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for more information).
Once connected, customize your device name using the Control Panel.
Click Add to save the information and complete the process.
Your device should now be connected to your SmartHome and ready to use! Use your TELUS SmartHome mobile app or web portal to access your devices and customize your system.

2GIG Panel (before 2019):

Check to see if the Z-Wave feature is enabled on your Control Panel: Select Services on the main screen. If "Z-Wave Feature Not Available" message appears, call 1-855-273-2973 to have Z-Wave activated on your account. If “Z-Wave” is listed, continue with the following steps:
Select Home Services in the Control Panel
Select Z-Wave
Select Toolbox
Enter your Master code (Disarm code)
Select Remove Devices
Trigger device or press the learn button* to erase network data and delete from network.
Return to Z-Wave toolbox menu, then select Add Devices. The Control Panel will enter discovery mode
Trigger device or press the Learn button on your device (the Learn button varies by device, please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for more information). Your Control Panel will now search for nearby Z-Wave devices in learn mode. If it does not connect, the device may not be near enough to the Control Panel, or the learning process may not have been triggered. Move closer and retry.
You should see an indication in the Control Panel that the device was added to the network. The device will appear in the Z-Wave section of your Control Panel.
Your device should now be connected to your SmartHome and ready to use! Use your TELUS SmartHome mobile app or web portal to access your devices and customize your system.

Note: To pair the FortrezZ Water Shut-Off Valve, you will need to have the Water Management feature enabled on your account.
